Virginia Firebrand

He loves the smell of leaves in Fall
He loves Jesus most of all
With eyes ablaze, a voice that booms
He brings conviction to the room

He says we ought to go to prayer
He goes to Washington...Beware!
His daughters play the violin
He thunders loud, “Depart from sin!”

Who can name this fiery, controversial preacher?
We heard him at a tiny church in 1994.
Wonder what became of him.
He made quite an impression that day.
Inspired this poem.
I thought of him as I traipsed through the woods the other day.
He enjoyed hunting and mentioned his love of the outdoors in his message.
I also enjoy this time of year.
Autumn is my favorite season, especially for horseback riding.
